We regularly get enquiries on how to fit our post protectors and safety pads. We sometimes get requests for quotations for fitting them but it is very rarely necessary for this extra expense to be warranted.
All of our pads are very easy to fit. Essentially unless your pads are very unusual in shape or size it is much more practical and cost effective for you to fit them yourself.
The vast majority of our pads are secured using a very high strength Velcro making them very easy to install. If they are in a school environment they are not easy to take off should little fingers decide to pick at them. The pads can be removed if needed but this is not something that a child would find easy to accomplish. The following guide looks at the different types of post protector or safety pad and the fixing methods available. It also gives advice on how to install the post pads.
Full wrap around pads – Round, Rectangular or Square
These pads come with Velcro all down the back edge of the pad which allows you to open the pad, fit it around the post and then re-secure using velcro. It really is that easy!!Three sided Safety Pads
These pads are generally chosen to avoid an obstruction on one of the sides, perhaps a fence or wall close to your post that will not allow you to get a standard post pad all the way around. Alternatively the post or pillar may be protruding from a wall so only three sides are exposed to fix to. All of these obstacles are easy to overcome with three sided post protectors. Dependent upon the application you have a number of options:a. Straps or ties
The post is covered as normal on three of the sides and then secured round the final side with either Velcro straps or eyelets which we can add for you down the length of the pads. The Velcro straps are simply wrapped around the back and secured together. Eyelets are placed down the length of a vinyl flap and the post pad is then secured with a fastener of your choice e.g. cord, straps or cable ties.b. Face fixed Velcro
Best for internal or sheltered applications, face fixed Velcro offers the opportunity to securely attach a pad where there is no space at the back to wrap straps or ties around e.g for pillars or beams protruding from a wall. The pad will come out to you with one part of the Velcro already attached down each outside edge of the pad. You need to take the opposing Velcro strip and line it up down the length of the one which is already attached. Next simply remove the backing off the exposed strip and secure the pad to your surface. NB. The adhesive is very strong so be careful not the touch the surface before the pad is in position. Perfect for protecting corners in high traffic or sports areas these safety pads are most commonly attached with face fixed Velcro for internal applications or via eyelets for outside use.For External applications
If your pad will be outside and particularly exposed to the elements, a popular alternative fixing method is to use eyelets which can then be screwed through into your surface. For more information and prices click here.Testimonials – What do our customers say about us.
